Now that's a great noodle!There is always some History usually though, and that is where I fail.But allusions and clues to street names....wow. Love it. I guess its not a 100% lock, but it's got me more than half.Its actually leading over to the lake side of the park it seems.....................................................................................

I wonder if we have been given a few allusions to street names:

cap and gown = Oxford
"A bomb" should be a-bomb = Nagasaki rd
diamond in rough = Argyle
"A hill" is ChurcHILL
prattle = CHATsworth
battle = Midway (continuing on the WWII themes)
liberties and rights = Lexington (revolutionary war)

Good Noodling!   My son lives on Churchill street right across the street from the Historic Streetcar station and down the street from the USS Swordfish Memorial. After the east side west side clue, I wondered about the historic streetcar station and then the Swordfish memorial. Here is what they write about the memorial. 

I think there is a certain ordering and direction given if the streets are indeed correct. Something that will keep "the prize in your sights" if you follow certain directions from the CW. I'll keep that part to myself :)

Now that I look at a map and see that a lot of those streets actually are grouped together, I think you may have indeed cracked it.

I like it. Just the right kind of vagueness they need for today's hunt, but all those make sense. The downside is those streets are all over the place in Como, but maybe they're not meant to narrow it down that much.

Every time I look at Google maps I keep noticing that 94 is also labeled as the Purple Heart Trail. Maybe Merriam isn't a crazy idea after all?
There is a school there (cap and gown?)
There's a chain link fence around the tennis court.
Meet your match could be a reference to the infamous "Marry 'em" clue from 2002.
There are softball diamonds there.
And definitely a hill.
Not a perfect theory but something to ponder.

Long time lurker, first time poster...  I will start with Clue 4


If treasure's your mark, take a waltz in the park-  maybe six steps into the park or from boundary, or from Medallion

Be ready to meet your match-  equals being unsuccessful

Strap on your glove, look up above-  it literally says 'look up above', no 'and' where the comma is.  Maybe a red herring?  Who s(trap)s on a glove?

For an object ripe for the catch-  this line changes if the 'look up above' is a red herring, also ripe= (pier)

So, there's legit a sticks and cones (plural) tasty frozen treats sold in downtown St. Paul at 400 Robert St and also at the Lowertown Market. Looking for a hill, the James J. Hill library (now not a thing?) is down the way attached to the George L. Library. across from it is on Kellogg is a Snoopy--perhaps as in to spy? Below/across Kellogg is Harriet Island, I think the Target stage is visible. 

Downtown St. Paul has theatrical theatres, museums, movie theaters, baseball field, eagle road, Xcel center for music and graduations, Treasure Island Center/TRIA Rink Orthopedic Center where the Wild practice - treasure is mentioned numerous times in the clues and buckling knees are fixed by ortho docs,  I don't know boxing wise what goes on, but I found that Tower Theater in St. Paul, had shown clips of the Dempsey-Gibbons boxing match in 1920s which was against the law, I'm sure back in the day there was waltz/dancing going on in nearby buildings in 1849, the Pioneer announced a grand ball at the American House (formerly the Rice House) there's Rice park which across from the Landmark Center, also cap and gown could mean top-hat and ball/fancy gowns for a dance or for the Winter Carnival Royal families that goes with reign in Clue#2 there's also an East and West wind family, In 1896, and for whatever reason, carnival organizers elected to go with a male Queen in 1896. Known as “Gloriana”, the Daisy Queen, Mr. Andrew Heckler performed the duties of Queen of the Snows and was by the side of Boreas Rex IV, Justice Charles Flandrau. Could Gloriana link to Glory? In terms of battle isn't that part of the legend. 

Anyway, brain dump complete. The puck might be close to downtown St. Paul or maybe any park that did or does host the ice castles.   

Up at the top of the sliding hill, there is a gate that has a no trespassing sign by it because it is private property. I, too, am full of useless minutiae!   Hahahaha  

This may be utterly worthless minutiae, but anagrams for the "missing" words in Clues 5 & 3 [a (twice), got, the] include   A HOT GATE, GATE OATH
IDK if that means anything to anyone, but the word gate caught my eye. 

I guess it is actually the West side of the park (or Northwest.  :) 

I am convinced it is in Como Park. And the last two clues brought us more to the North side of the park. With the waltzing and match and glove, which I think is a golf glove. I certainly strap mine off and on (especially when I am mad about my hit :).  Talked about rough as in the edge of the golf course. Also, Como's sliding/ski hill is well-known around town. But here is what cinched it for me...... At the top of the sledding hill where you go in (also the top edge of the golf course (rough), the street you drive in on is Chelsea. One of Neil DIAMOND's famous cover songs (originally written and sung by Joni Mitchell) is Chelsea Morning. Seeking Neil DIAMOND in rough.  There is a chain-linked fence that surrounds the golf course/sliding hill.  That is where I am going to look.  :)   Jone

And why does the clue say stick and cone - and not sticks and cones? Like there is going to be one stick and one pinecone? Lol. Unless it means something different. Or just to rhyme I guess. But then again the first clue says to tackle these rhymes.
